Whoa…again, I never even knew there was such a thing as a seatstay to even put it in the title of a blog post. But enough about that since seatstays don’t happen till tomorrow. I know…it’s an “edge of your seat” kind of thing, but you’ll just have to wait.
The chainstay process is way more involved than I realized. Here I thought you weld together the pieces of the titanium tubes that connect there and move on. Well, sure, but somehow you have to figure out what tubes connect, how long they have to be, and how they actually should fit together so that there is room for the chain itself. Whew – there is drawing and mitering and piecing together before you can even think about welding.
Oh! And the best news of the day??? The instructors have told Kovas that his welds should hold, so when he’s riding around town, his bicycle most likely won’t fall apart into a pile of tubes in the middle of the street. That’s a good start, right?
